TRIBAL STUDIES CENTRE
The Centre was established in 2007 with financial assistance from UGC under the scheme of Innovative Subjects in Emerging Areas and is being run successfully. The Dibrugarh University was pleased to approve the syllabus of the subject Tribal Studies prepared by the Centre as one of the non-major subjects at UG level. Perhaps, Silapathar College is the first college and the Dibrugarh University is the first university in the country to introduce Tribal Studies as a subject at UG level.
WOMEN’S STUDIES CENTRE
The Centre for Women’s Studies was established in 2009. The Centre is devoting itself to organizing workshops, seminars, awareness campaigns etc. since its inception. Considering the needs of this area, the Centre is planning to introduce a Certificate Course in Women’s Studies of three months’ duration during this academic session (2012-13) and launch documentation and research projects. The course is designed to meet up the need of understanding women’s issues in the context of higher education.
INDIRA GANDHI STUDIES CENTRE
Indira Gandhi Studies Centre, Silapathar College was established with the financial assistance from the U.G.C. during (XI) plan programme under the scheme of Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India. The significance of Indira Gandhi Study Centre at Silapathar College is to spread the ideology and philosophy of Indira Gandhi, who was the second female head of government in the world, and the world's second longest serving female Prime Minister as of 2012. The ideologically of Indira Gandhi is committed to socialism, secularism and democracy.
RABINDRANATH TAGORE CENTRE
Rabindranath Tagore Studies Centre, Silapathar College was established with the financial assistance from the U.G.C. during (XI) plan programme under the scheme of Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India. The significance of Rabindranath Tagore Study Centre at Silapathar College is to spread the ideology of Rabindranath Tagore, who was one of the chief architect of modern Indian art.
DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR STUDIES CENTRES
In the context of eradication of social discrimination in terms of caste and creed, Ambedkar’s struggle for nation building is considered important in and relevant to present social scenario of identity crisis of the deprived and the excluded. With a view to disseminating the philosophy of Ambedkar who was the architect of the Constitution of Indian Republic among the social groups who have developed a sense of alienation, the college established the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Studies Centre.
BUDDHIST STUDIES CENTRE
The Centre for Buddhism Studies has been established to propagate non-violence and ‘sheel principles’ of Buddha, the source of wisdom. The Buddhist study Centre is expected to help in visualizing, understanding and analyzing problems of Buddhist people. The Students will be able to identify the actual vision of Buddha by creating this Study center .
GANDHIAN STUDIES CENTRE
The college established this centre with a view to disseminating the non-violence ideals of the Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is considered essential in the socio-political contexts of the violence-torn North-East.

CAREER ORIENTED PROGRAMMES: TRAVEL AND TOURISM
Now-a-day, Tourism is a major industry around the world. Considering the importance of tourism as job oriented industry, the college introduced a UGC financed “Career Oriented Programme” (COP) of ‘Travel and Tourism’ during the last academic session 2013-14. A certificate course of
one year duration is offered to BA Semester students of this college and launch documentation and extension works. This course is designed to meet up the understanding about ‘Travel and Tourism’ in the context of local level as well as global level. Mr. Lalit Chandra Doley is the Coordinator of the course.
ENTRY INTO SERVICES
The college has started Entry into service, a career oriented programme funded by UGC for the 5th Semester students to make them prepared for various competitive services.
